Ultimate Valentines Day Gift Guide

I've done my own share of searching for gift ideas and I've found, for Valentines Day in particular, the guides tend to be full of things I would never buy. Maybe for a birthday or Christmas but I wouldn't really buy a razor for the most romantic day of the year....

So I've decided to put together a list of things that you can actually get your other half  for Valentines Day without feeling a bit silly.

Night away for the two of you

A night away is always a nice little getaway. Out exploring a different town and then cozying up together for a romantic evening. You could even order room service! If you're not looking to spend a fortune, a Premier Inn or a Travelodge is normally your best bet or if you're looking for something a bit more special you can try Groupon or Wowcher.

Photo album of memories so far

Our adventure book scrapbook photo album

This is probably easier if it's your first Valentines Day together. You can create a little photo album of your time together so far and then for every Valentines after that you can create a new album for the past year. It also creates a perfect timeline of your relationship together for you to look back on and cherish for years to come. I love this one, especially because you can add more pages as you need them!

Weekend away

If you want to splash out a bit more than a single night away then a weekend is a perfect option. If you're looking to score extra points then you could make it an extra long weekend away abroad. Somewhere like Rome or Paris are perfect examples of mini romantic getaways.

Meal

Maybe save the meal for a week before or a week after Valentines Day if your other half doesn't mind this. I say this for two reasons. One, because unless you book in advance it's going to be hard to fnd anywhere and two, it will be full to the rafters and the noise level won't at that romantic level that you're hoping for.

Flowers

I am firmly in the camp of "flowers are not cheesy". It's always lovely to receive flowers no matter what the date is but if you need an excuse, Valentines Day is perfect. You can go for a lovely bouquet from your local flower shop or you can order a bouquet of roses, a fake rose and add your own note saying "I'll love you until the last rose dies". Swoon.

Diet wine

diet rose wine black tower 55 calories

IT EXISTS! Let's be honest, what female isn't on a diet but likes a drink? At only 55 calories per 125ml glass, it contains approximately 30% less calories than other brands. You really can't complain at that!

Spa day

What better way to chill out and relax with your loved one than lounging around by a pool and having a massage and a facial? Even better if you can book in a couples massage so that you can both unwind and work out those knots.

Favourite perfume or aftershave

Sometimes, when something is your favourite, you need to buy it mltplie times a year. Something that you need but don't have to buy yourself is my favourite kind of present. If your partner doesn't have a favourite then why not go and do a sniff test on a bunch of different perfumes and see which one is your favourite? The effort that you went to to find one that you like won't go unnoticed!

Jewellery

Who doesn't like jewellery? For him, buy a smart looking watch or necklace and for her, the possibilities are endless. Necklaces, earrings, bracelets, rings, watches...if you're not confident enough to pick something out yourself, make it a lovely day out and take her shopping and pick something out together.

Waterproof speaker

waterproof wireless shower speaker

I recently bought my husband this waterproof speaker for Christmas as he likes to listen to music in the shower and I've not had any complaints from him. The sound goes much louder than I was expecting for such a small speaker which was a nice surprise as I didn't have the highest hopes since I've not heard of the brand before.

Personalised phone/ipad/laptop case

There are so many websites out there now that allow you to put photos on anything. Long gone are the days of getting a personalised mug (unless you need a mug that is!). A phone case would be my personal recommendation as it's something that needs a case anyway to protect it so why not have a case that you absolutely love! If your partner already has one, then an ipad or laptop case are the next most common items that need cases.
